Northwest Storm Bantam Girls Capture Gold at Provincials

Mississauga, ON – The Northwest Storm bantam girls hockey team captured the Gold Medal in a 2-1, double-overtime victory against the Nepean Wildcats at the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association Provincial Championship in Mississauga this past weekend. The Storm went undefeated in the tournament but faced quite a battle in the final game. The girls brought the hard-fought affair to a close 47 seconds into the second overtime period to take the Provincial Championship. The Northwest Storm, a first-ever bantam girls team from the northwest region, competed in the BB division and was comprised of players from Kenora, Dryden, Ignace, Fort Frances, Atikokan and Thunder Bay.

The Storm Take Game Two

The Brampton Canadettes experienced "Storm"y conditions inside the
Meadowvale Arena tonight.

Breanna Brown earned a shutout and led the Northwest Storm to a 6 - 0
victory.

Morgan Church and Gabrielle Erickson each posted two goals; Danielle
Jean and Jillian Langtry notched singles as part of total team effort.
Assisting these goals were Alexis Reid (3), Jillian Langtry (2), Kristen
Bartlett (2), Erin McColm (1), Jessie Schedlosky (1), Danielle Jean (1),
Claire Paquette (1), and Hali Romas (1).

Game Three against the Oakville Hornets (also undefeated in round robin
play) takes place Saturday at 2:30 EST.

Game 1

NW Storm "blew out" the Clarington Flames with a strong first game finish of a 3-1. One goal in second period: Kris from Morgan and Gabrielle. Third period: Goal #2 Morgan from Danielle and Jesse. Goal #3 was by Gabrielle from Jillian and Jessie. NWS kept Clarington out of our end with strong forechecking and a defensive wall. Bre was solid and ready in the net but was not given much action. Watch later tonight for game 2 results.
